Submission Guidelines

Teacher Name

• Both first and last name must be specified for individuals. Please don't use all CAPITAL letters.
• If you don't capitalize the first letter(s) of your name, we probably won't correct it.

Organization Name vs. Individual

• For organizations, fill in the name of your organization on the single line provided. If your organization has a contact person, you should put the name of that person in the "Comments" area at the bottom of the form, not in the First/Last name section.
• Leave First/Last name fields empty.
• No stores, please! Only educational institutions and non-profit organizations will be listed.

Telephone Numbers

• This field is totally optional. But in order to have your submission accepted, you must specify either a telephone number OR e-mail address.
• U.S. Domestic: always list area codes, extensions or special dialing instructions as necessary.
• International: always list your country code prefix, e.g. (+44) for U.K., (+353) for Ireland, etc.

Electronic Mail Address

Double-check punctuation and case-sensitive characters (if any) in your e-mail address! Many people send submissions with bad e-mail addresses and we have no way of knowing how to correct them. Examples of bad e-mail addresses:

My Name@capaccess.net (space between My and Name)
My_Name@capaccess@net (bad punctuation - too many @'s)
"My_Name@capaccess.net" (don't put quotes or brackets around the address)

It is best to specify only one e-mail address. If you want to specify more than one, separate each with a comma and don't use spaces. Example: info@teachlist.com,help@teachlist.com

A brief note about spam: We do not sell or distribute your information to those who would use it for any form of broadbase mailing. Furthermore, our search engine has been designed to thwart web spiders that seek email addresses so the risk of receiving spam mail from your listing at TeachList.Com is minimal.

Web page / Web site

• Individuals: This may be a web page for yourself or your teaching activities.

• Organizations: Please list the home page for your organization.

• Links to your performance schedules and/or workshop information are welcome.

• If your website contains multiple pages with one of them focusing on teaching or your musical pursuits, we ask that you post the URL that goes directly to the most relevant page.

• Commercial Information: The following guidelines are used by our reviewers for acceptance of websites:

  Some items are dubious and reviewed on a case-by-case basis: banner ads, instruments or services for rent/lease, product endorsements.

• All web sites are reviewed prior to acceptance into the database. If your site is found to have material deemed "Not Acceptable" or is unavailable at the time of our review, the URL will be deleted from your listing, but the rest of your listing will still be posted.

How to suggest an instrument for the list

We have tried to include all "mainstream" and "folk" instruments in our choices, but we know we have inadvertently left out several. If you feel that an instrument you teach is not listed, please let us know in the space provided. Example: If you teach dijeridu and feel that there is significant interest that people might use our service to find your listing, please specify dijeridu on the suggestion line, or contact us us with your suggestion.

We may not include your instrument immediately, however we do keep track of all recommendations and may include your instrument in one of our future updates. If this happens, you will automatically be added to this instrument's list of teachers.

What should I specify for Age Group?

Use this space to identify any age groups you specifically want to offer your services. Some suggestions are:

• "All ages"
• "Anyone over 15 years old"
• "Adults only"
• "Middle or High School students"
• "I love teaching kids"
• "specialize helping students seeking music degrees"
• "can tutor for leaving certs"

What can I put in the "Comments" section?

• Instruments for loan or rent
• Mailing address
• mentioning if you can be hired as a performer
• mentioning weekly, monthly or annual workshops
• mentioning how long you have been a teacher or performer
• major awards, accomplishments, competitions
• years of teaching experience (preferred: what year you started teaching)
• formal education, credentials
• (Organizations) directions to your facility

What is not acceptable in the "Comments" section?

• HTML tags
• reference to web sites (use the web page section, above)
• Selling instruments, accessories, books, or recordings
• boastful commentary, such as "the best fiddle player in the East"
• Instruments for sale
• Any commercial product or service, or any reference to a business or commercial venture that may be in direct competition with our hosts or sponsors.
• mention of services other than teaching, e.g. repairs, recording services, agency services
